Bathe In The Healing Springs Of The Lemor Forest

Lombok is famous for many tourist spots, including the world-famous temples, mountains, waterfalls, and beaches, just to name a few. You are more than welcome to check out my reviews on all the important landmarks on the island – they’re all very informative and helpful. However, as any other big-time tourist destination, Lombok has some “hidden treasures” that only a select group of folks are aware of.

Obviously, the locals know about every tiny spot on the island, because it’s their home. But I’m talking about the foreigners, the visitors from other countries that are always searching for something uncharted, something unique and beautiful.

With that said, I want to introduce to you the finest bathing spot in Indonesia. Yep, it sounds a bit too pretentious, but it is what it is. Once you spend some time in Lemor, you’ll understand exactly what I mean by this. Essentially, it’s a botanical garden, but it’s nothing like what you’re used to in Europe and America.

The people of Lombok do everything differently, and that’s the beauty of this island. Located in the East Lombok Regency, this place is becoming more and more popular among the tourists, as it offers a wide range of services that will help you relax and get excited all at the same time. For the right price, of course.

Getting To Know Lemor Better

The experienced tourists claim that this is one of the best-developed resorts in Lombok, as it’s been around for quite a long time. The garden boasts a heavenly nature and is full of exotic fruits that turn Lemor into a magical place. Now, while visitors from all over the world come here to have some fun and enjoy that “royal treatment”, the younger couples love this spot for different reasons.

If you’re dating a beautiful young girl and want to impress her, I’d highly recommend inviting her to this garden. It’s extremely romantic and offers all kinds of treats that will be perfect for a getaway trip with your loved one. Believe me, it will be money well spent.

Furthermore, Lemor is very popular as a place to get together with old colleagues, celebrate a promotion, and hold all kinds of other happy events. I personally know a couple of newly-weds that spent their honeymoon here and were totally satisfied with the service. Weddings are also quite popular in Lemor.

With that said, if you’ve got a big celebration coming up and can’t really find the right “venue” for it, make sure to check this place out. Lombok is famous for the affordable price-tags on everything, which means this can turn out to be not only an exciting change of scenery but also a chance for you to save some bucks. Make a list of pros and cons – that way, you’ll get everything right.

What Else Does This Beautiful Garden Has To Offer?

So, as we just established, Lemor is a fine place for throwing parties and more classy events. Comfort – that’s the #1 thing that this spot provides, and that is exactly why it’s loved and cherished in certain circles. By the way, plant scientists from every corner of the world find this garden very exciting and visit to study the local fruits and plants.

As for the Lemor forest, it’s even more popular, as it’s located near the Rinjani Park and attracts tourists with that lush greenery and amazing atmosphere. If you can’t take the heat and just want to find a quiet spot to relax and be alone with your thoughts, this is a great pick.

The local monkeys aren’t really afraid of people and will “attack” you for some food. The springs in the area are truly magnificent. Go ahead and take a quick dive – I promise that will freshen you up and get you ready for new adventures. Without a doubt, these springs are amazing and I even suspect that they have some sort of a healing effect.

Back in the day, this used to be a vegetation conservation zone, but the government of Lombok decided to turn it into a tourist spot. At the same time, it’s still a big agricultural complex and they cultivate numerous plants there. It goes without saying that the air in the forest is nothing like you’ve ever felt. The springs help “feed” the gardens and the neighboring villages.

Learning Your Way Around The Forest

Once you enter the forest, you’ll be welcomed by a series of huge trees that stand right at the entrance. Inside, you’ll be amazed by the singing of the birds and the sounds of flowing water. Camping is one of the most popular things to do in this area. Just imagine being together with your friends in one of the most beautiful (and clean) forests in the world.

Grab a tent, some food, and maybe a bathing suit for swimming and have some fun! It’s very peaceful and quiet in the forest, even though it is always almost full of tourists and locals. You’ll see many young families with little kids in this place, along with elder couples.

Keep in mind that if you want to take a bath, you’ll have to go down 111 steps. It might be tiresome, but very well worth the trouble. The forest has a total area of 89+ hectares, which means you’ll be able to find a lonely spot there and fool around with your girlfriend.

Jokes aside, the Lemor Forest is a lovely place and will be a great change of scenery after you get the most out of the mountains and waterfalls. Come visit the garden and the forest so that you can see for yourself that Lombok is not only good for ancient temples and crowded beaches.

Accommodations And Restaurants In The Lemor Forest Area

I’m happy to say that you won’t have any problems with finding a decent place to eat and/or a room to crash. The local hotels are nice and cozy; plus, they offer all kinds of activities so that you don’t get bored and sleep on the couch watching TV (you can do that at home). The prices are affordable, even though the locals do tend to charge the foreigners more.

Nothing you can do about that except for bargaining a bit. Service is good, and the entire area is well-developed. Generally, East Lombok is one of the prosperous parts of the island. The bottom line is – you’ll have plenty of hotels/guest houses and cafes/restaurants to choose from.

I mentioned earlier that Lemor is famous for its bathing spots. Well, that’s true. The forest is full of them. Please be advised that the water is very cold and will probably not be as satisfying as you might think. It comes from the springs that are connected to the famous mount Rinjani. The fact that this is a protected forest means that the government did everything in its power to keep it as natural as possible.

That is exactly why you’ll meet monkeys, birds, and other creatures during your time there. There are many guides in the area, ready to help you out for a couple of bucks. Personally, I don’t see why any tourist would need their help.

How To Find The Lemor Botanic Garden

Alright, now let’s see where exactly we can find this place. So, the Lemor Botanic Garden is located in Suela Village, Subdistrict Suela, Lombok Timur. Take a look at the map at the bottom of this article to see where that is. From the Lombok Airport, the ride will take you about two hours.

The fastest route is 57 kilometers long, but if you choose to drive near the coastal line, the route will be 74 kilometers long. Driving a rental car (or, rather, a bike) near the ocean might be fun. However, if you need to get to your destination fast, I’d highly recommend paying a taxi driver and trying to relax in the back seat.

It all depends on your current mood and whether you’re on the clock or not. Public transportation on this island isn’t reliable at all. The locals are already used to it and know exactly when to arrive at the bus stops and how much to pay for the ride. We, the foreigners, don’t know the first thing about the way the buses work and it would be best to pay for a personal driver or rent a vehicle.

I always say that it’s better to pay some additional bucks for comfortable transportation so that you can enjoy the tourist spot once you arrive there. Trust me, the flight to Lombok can be quite exhausting for some, and you don’t want to lose any nerves/strength on the road.

If you think this place will blow your mind, you'll probably be disappointed. But as another fine spot in Lombok to visit with the family, it's quite alright.

We rented three motorcycles and drove along the coastal line for two hours, and it was amazing. Honestly, the ride was more exciting than the destination.

Camping in this forest feels entirely different from camping in a park somewhere back home. The atmosphere is magical and the locals only add to the feeling of being somewhere in a faraway island.

To me, there's nothing special about this tourist spot. Yes, everything is nice and cozy, but I've been to better places around the world.
